AMCB Events
Seminar Series
Each semester the AMCB hosts a seminar series that highlights student
research as well as invited speakers from across campus and across the
country. A broad range of topics dealing with all aspects of animal molecular
and cellular biology research and technologies are addressed. Each AMCB
graduate student is required to present his/her research at the seminar once
during their time in the program. Seminar will be held the once or twice a
month at 12:00 PM in a designated location.

Series Schedule
Journal Club
Periodically, the AMCB Journal Club is held. This
group is open to all AMCB graduate students, postdocs, technicians, and faculty.
Attendance is voluntary. Scientific papers
from selected journals will be presented and discussed in a round table
format. The program is designed to enhance student and faculty awareness of
both current and classical literature in the fields of molecular and cellular
biology, as well as improve critical thinking skills. Students may take the
journal club as a for-credit course (ANS 6932, AMCB Journal Colloquy, 1 h per semester for a maximum of three
semesters).

Lake Wauburg Picnic
Each year, the AMCB and Interdisciplinary Reproductive Biology group holds a
joint picnic at
Lake Wauburg.
This year's picnic will be held on Oct 17
from 3-6 pm. Pictures from the

Thanksgiving Potluck Luncheon
Celebrate the holiday of Thanksgiving a little early with colleagues in the
AMCB. The sixth annual potluck
luncheon will be on November 20, 2007 in Rm 102
Bldg 459. See

Research Symposium
Each
year, the AMCB holds a research symposium in which students share their
research. A Distinguished Lecturer from another university is invited
to attend for a formal seminar and to facilitate interactions with students.
The Research Symposium for 2008 was held March 28-29, 2008 in Cedar Key
Florida.
