AMCB Events

Seminar Series
Each semester the AMCB hosts a seminar series that highlights student research as well as invited speakers from across campus and across the country. A broad range of topics dealing with all aspects of animal molecular and cellular biology research and technologies are addressed. Each AMCB graduate student is required to present his/her research at the seminar once during their time in the program. Seminar will be held the once or twice a month at 12:00 PM in a designated location.

Seminar Series Schedule

Journal Club
Periodically, the AMCB Journal Club is held.  This group is open to all AMCB graduate students, postdocs, technicians, and faculty. Attendance is voluntary. Scientific papers from selected journals will be presented and discussed in a round table format. The program is designed to enhance student and faculty awareness of both current and classical literature in the fields of molecular and cellular biology, as well as improve critical thinking skills. Students may take the journal club as a for-credit course (ANS 6932, AMCB Journal Colloquy, 1 h per semester for a maximum of three semesters).

2006-2007 Journal Club Schedule

.

Research Symposium
Each year, the AMCB holds a research symposium in which students share their research.  A Distinguished Lecturer from another university is invited to attend for a formal seminar and to facilitate interactions with students. The 2012 symposium was held April 2-3 in Saint Augustine Beach, Florida and the 2013 symposium will be held April 5-6, 2013 in Fernadina Beach, Florida.  Martin Sheldon from Swansea University will be the Distinguished Lecturer.  Information about this and past symposia is available online.
