Crossbreeding.  Why the Interest?  What to Expect?  - Modern dairy cows are becoming increasingly inbred and this has an adverse effect on health and reproduction traits.  This paper by Les Hansen at the University of Minnesota contains some data illustrating advantages for crossbreeding in terms of reproductiove performance.
