Extension Agents, Volunteer Leaders, & High School Agriculture Teachers Interested in fielding Meat OR Livestock Judging Teams in 2008 … Come to Gainesville for one trip and save gas as the University of Florida Department of Animal Sciences will host two concurrently running judging clinics.

The program is targeted to 4-H and FFA youth ages 11-18 (4-H Intermediates & Seniors, FFA Middle & High School), leaders/coaches, teachers/advisors, and Extension Agents. There will be a $15 per person registration fee for both youth and adults. Please return the preregistration form and payment by December 21, 2007.

Both clinics will start at 1 pm on Friday, January 11th and again at 8 am on Saturday, January 12th. There will be a dinner for participants in both programs (included in the registration fee) Friday at 6:30pm at the Livestock Pavilion. The Meat Judging program will be held at the UF Animal Sciences Building in the Meat Processing Center. The Livestock Judging program will be held at the UF Horse Teaching Unit.

Participants (youth and adult) in the Meat Judging Clinic will need to wear hard hats and frocks while in the coolers. These items should be brought with you to the program, but if you are coming up short, contact Larry Eubanks to possibly arrange use of UF's hats and frocks. Also, rememebr that most of the program will take place in ~40 degree meat coolers so dress accordingly!

A group of rooms is blocked at the Cabot Lodge for Friday night, January 11. The group rate for this event is $79, plus tax. Call (800) 843-8735 (or 352-375-2400) by December 13 and ask for a room in the “Judging Clinic” block. After December 13 the rate cannot be guaranteed and may be offered only on a space-available basis. The Cabot Lodge is located right at I-75’s Archer Road exit (#384).
